FIDEM award the “Business Expansion Prize” to Núria Vilanova, president of the Inforpress Group

The International Foundation of Enterprising Women, FIDEM, has awarded the “Business Expansion Prize” to Núria Vilanova, president and founder of the Inforpress Group, the foremost Communications and Public Relations consultancy in Spain and Portugal, which this year is celebrating its 20th anniversary. The eleventh edition of the FIDEM Awards was presided over by Her Royal Highness the Princess of Asturias and Girona, Doña Letizia Ortiz.

Núria Vilanova expressed her gratitude for the award and explained that “although there have been great advances in Spain in recognising the role of women entrepreneurs, there is still much to be done to achieve equality of opportunity in companies, above all at management levels”.

In contrast to the situation in many Spanish businesses, the president of the Inforpress Group explained that her consultancy is “atypical” when it comes to hiring personnel, since it practices a policy of positive discrimination when contracting men. “In the communication sector there are lots of women and, as a consequence, the Inforpress Group has been making a great effort to obtain, at least, a 30% male workforce”, Núria Vilanova stated.

Núria Vilanova has been awarded for her initiative and effort in directing this consultancy, which is currently developing projects for leading Spanish and multinational companies. After working for several years as a journalist in different media, Núria Vilanova, when aged 21, began to acquire clients in the business communications area and, two years after that, created the Inforpress Group.

The President of Inforpress has won several awards for her business activities and for the success of her company. She currently holds posts as a director, or consultant, in diverse institutions, such as the Spanish Confederation and Association of Directors, the Barcelona Chamber of Commerce or the Department of Promotion and Employment, among others. Also of note is her active collaboration with social, cultural and charity organisations, and her creation of Punt de Trobada (The Meeting Point) which regularly brings together Catalans from various walks of life for gatherings in Madrid. In addition to Núria Vilanova, other people awarded FIDEM prizes included Montse Nzang, the director of Cangur; Elisenda, Olga and Beatriz Casanovas, directors of Montgatina Industrial Ceramics; Ana Núñez, director of Anudal; Mª Ángeles Tejada, president of the Select Group and Anna Bosch, director general of Noel Alimentation, while the conciliation prize went to Xavier Martínez , the president of TQ Tecnol.

Informal Meeting with Antonio Fernández-Galiano, Delegated Counsellor of the Unidad Editorial Group

“Unidad Editorial came into being through the “El Mundo” project. From its very beginnings, it carved out a niche in the press field that has allowed it to evolve into the established Group it is today”.

“In other sectors there are factors that guarantee the success of a project. In the editorial world, the risk is higher. The best product, with a carefully chosen editorial line and design…. can still fail”.

“The difference is that newspapers have a “soul”, they get in tune with the market and are able to grow with it”.

“We are focusing on two aspects: the multimedia factor and the integration, within the activity, of editorial staff, resources, systems, etc.”.

“The newspaper of the future will be an impeccable product, an elite product, for an informed elite, so it will have to be a top-quality creation, both from the point of view of its contents and from a formal point of view; a product worth paying for”.

How does one set up a corporate university?

On 20 th of February this year, Audentia Formación, celebrated its third gathering of training directors which considered the practical case of creating the SUMMA Ferrovial Corporate University

Thanks to Silvia Lázaro, the director of said University, we were able to learn about the creation of SUMMA, a training project born with the aim of becoming the main centre for the diffusion of culture and talent within the Ferrovial Group and which, in its first year, has opened its doors to more than 1,600 people.

The Ferrovial Group's clear commitment to training (which already, in 2006, represented more than 83,000 hours a year) has been behind the challenge of giving the organisation the capacity to encourage growth and to develop global management models while maintaining its identity within the general diversity.

The aims of the SUMMA Ferrovial University are centred on three axes. The first is based on the Transmission of Corporate Culture and Values, the second on developing a representative and efficient management style for Ferrovial and finally, developing and transmitting the abilities and technical knowledge that will allow the Ferrovial Group to offer its customers differential value.

The first hundred days of the SUMMA University were crucial in certifying that without the aid, encouragement and backup of top management, it would not be possible to carry out a project of these characteristics.
